Job Description

Yaamava' Resort & Casino is a renowned hospitality and entertainment establishment that prides itself on delivering world-class experiences to its guests. Situated within the vibrant Inland Empire, this casino resort has become a favored destination for leisure, dining, and entertainment. The resort boasts an extensive range of amenities, including multiple bars, fine dining restaurants, and casual cafes, making it an ideal place for culinary and beverage connoisseurs to innovate and inspire. Committed to excellence and guest satisfaction, Yaamava' Resort & Casino maintains high standards in service, quality, and ambiance, ensuring every visit is memorable and enjoyable.

The role of Sommelier at Yaamava' Resort & Casino is a critical position within the Food & Beverage department, reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage. This position centers around managing the overall wine operations across various venues within the resort and driving profitability through a meticulously crafted wine program. The Sommelier is responsible for developing an ever-evolving world-class wine selection, tailored not just for the upscale steakhouse but also the more casual in-room dining and cafe settings, aligning with the resort's brand standards.

As a Sommelier, you will be tasked with overseeing the procurement, inventory management, and proper storage of wines to maintain quality and cost efficiency. A vital aspect of this role includes working closely with venue chefs to create seamless food and wine pairings that enhance the dining experience while ensuring menu items continuously appeal to guests. You will lead wine education and training programs for front-of-house staff and venue leadership, elevating service standards and promoting upselling techniques.

This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance creativity with fiscal responsibility, ensuring beverage costs align with set budgets and profitability goals are met. The Sommelier will frequently be present on the floor to engage with guests, providing expert recommendations, delivering impeccable wine service, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. This leadership position necessitates strong communication skills, a thorough understanding of fine dining wine stewarding, and the ability to manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

To succeed, candidates must demonstrate expertise in wine varieties, trends, and beverage cost controls alongside the capacity to train and motivate others effectively. The position commonly involves physical activity within a climate-controlled casino and resort setting, requiring mobility, attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety regulations. It also entails working irregular shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and requires consistent professional appearance and demeanor.

Joining Yaamava' Resort & Casino as a Sommelier offers an exciting opportunity to impact the guest experience profoundly and contribute to the ongoing success of a premier hospitality venue in the Inland Empire region. Candidates passionate about wine, hospitality, and leadership will find a rewarding career path here, growing their expertise and influencing the resort's culinary offerings directly.
