Job Description

Hawksmoor is a renowned restaurant group celebrated for its dedication to exceptional food, outstanding service, and a vibrant dining experience. The group has garnered significant recognition and awards, including being named among The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For in the UK for seven consecutive years. Now expanding its footprint internationally, Hawksmoor is opening its second international restaurant in Chicago, a city historically known as the powerhouse of American beef. The new location is set in the iconic LaSalle Street Cable Car Powerhouse, a beautiful designated landmark dating back to 1887, which the restaurant team is passionately restoring to honor its rich history while breathing new life into the space.

The Sommelier role at Hawksmoor Chicago is a unique opportunity to join a high-profile team at an exciting time of growth and expansion. Reporting to the Head Sommelier, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in executing and supporting the Hawksmoor wine programme, ensuring the highest standards of service and hospitality within the restaurant. This position offers a chance to work in a premium dining environment where both the historical significance of the venue and the culinary excellence of Hawksmoor combine to deliver an unmatched guest experience.

As a Sommelier, you will be expected to bring not only your extensive knowledge of wine but also your ability to work seamlessly alongside the Front of House team. The role demands strong interpersonal skills, harmonizing well with all departments, and a proactive presence on the restaurant floor to support daily operations. Candidates should have experience with high-volume, revenue-driven environments, reflecting a comfort and expertise in managing busy service periods without compromising the quality of guest interaction or product knowledge.

Hawksmoor Chicago values team members who are deeply passionate about the food and beverage industry and who strive for excellence in every aspect of their work. Joining this team means becoming part of a business that prioritizes employee happiness and professional development, offering generous pay, benefits, and career growth opportunities. The wealth of experience within the wider Hawksmoor Group ensures a supportive and enriching working environment where your skills as a Sommelier will be both challenged and nurtured.

This role also offers the unique experience of contributing to the launch and ongoing success of a flagship international restaurant, making it an ideal position for those who thrive on new ventures and want to impact the hospitality landscape in Chicago. With salary, package, and benefits to be discussed at interview, Hawksmoor welcomes applicants ready to bring their expertise and passion to this exciting chapter of their journey.
