Zuma is an acclaimed contemporary Japanese restaurant collection renowned for its vibrant Izakaya-inspired dining style. With its presence in some of North America's most iconic cities including Miami, New York, Las Vegas, and Boston, Zuma has solidified itself as a leader in the upscale hospitality sector. Each venue is a celebrated landmark in its own right, exemplifying a commitment to exceptional dining experiences and culinary mastery. Zuma is also proud to be part of the Azumi collection, a global network recognized for elevating guest experiences through world-class service and innovative cuisine. The restaurant is driven by core values that galvanize its team, such as honoring mastery by perfecting every detail, fostering a supportive and respectful community, and embracing a passionate energy that defines the atmosphere and service.
As a Zuma Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in curating and managing the wine program to enhance the overall dining experience for guests through expert knowledge and personalized recommendations. Your expertise in wine and sake selection, paired with attentive service, will be vital in elevating Zuma's beverage program while contributing to the restaurant's success. This full-time role offers compensation at $17.75 per hour plus tips, reflecting the value placed on the specialist skill set required. As part of your responsibilities, you will assist guests in making informed choices by sharing detailed insights into grape varieties, wine regions, production methods, and tasting notes, all tailored to complement the food menu and suit individual preferences. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with the culinary team to develop wine pairings that enhance the guest experience and promote beverage sales.
You will oversee wine service standards and ensure strict adherence to best practices in storage, handling, and presentation to maintain quality and enhance guest enjoyment. Training and mentoring staff in wine service will be essential, ensuring a knowledgeable and confident team. Additionally, you will be responsible for inventory management, conducting regular stock assessments to maintain accurate records and availability. Your role will also include supporting overall restaurant operations during peak periods by assisting with floor duties such as clearing tables and running food and drinks, thus contributing to smooth service flow. Zuma values natural team players who thrive in dynamic environments, possess a genuine passion for Japanese cuisine and culinary experiences, and embody a warm, customer-focused approach to creating memorable dining moments. Certifications such as Sommelier or higher are highly preferred, along with prior experience in fine dining establishments, making this a prestigious opportunity for professionals seeking to grow within an innovative, globally recognized hospitality brand.
