Joining the Faena New York team as a Sommelier means becoming part of a prestigious environment where expert knowledge of wine and personalized guest experiences are paramount. This full-time role is designed for an individual who is passionate about wine and skilled at guiding sophisticated guests through an extensive wine list. The Sommelier will be responsible for making expert recommendations, ensuring that every wine pairing complements the dining experience to perfection. The Sommelier at Faena New York will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall dining atmosphere by educating guests and staff about wine regions, varietals, and pairing techniques. This includes conducting tastings, hosting special events, and maintaining relationships with wine distributors and wineries to curate an exceptional wine selection. Additionally, the Sommelier will collaborate closely with chefs and beverage directors to develop and sustain a dynamic and evolving wine program that consistently delights discerning guests. Job Requirements

  • Certified sommelier designation required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant sommelier experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality
  • Ability to manage wine inventory and perform cost analysis
  • Deep knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and pairing techniques
  • Exceptional guest engagement and communication skills
  • Experience working with high-profile or VIP clientele preferred
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale and reservation software
  • Fluency in English, proficiency in additional languages is a plus
  • Capacity to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Certified sommelier designation required (Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a sommelier in a fine dining or luxury hospitality setting
  • Proficiency in wine list management, including inventory control and cost analysis
  • Strong understanding of classic and modern wine pairing techniques
  • Exceptional ability to engage with guests and provide a personalized experience
  • Experience with high-profile clientele and VIP guest services preferred
  • Familiarity with POS and reservation systems to track wine sales and guest preferences
  • Knowledge of spirits, aperitifs, and non-alcoholic beverage pairings is a plus
  • Fluency in English required
  • additional languages, particularly French, Italian, or Spanish, are highly desirable
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties
