The Solutions Architect role within the AWS World Wide Public Sector Nonprofits practice is a highly strategic and influential position. This role serves as the technical lead for a portfolio of nonprofit social good technology organizations, guiding them in designing and implementing robust, scalable, secure cloud architectures using AWS services. The Solutions Architect works closely with sales and business development teams, providing technical expertise that shapes planning and strategy, ensuring that projects are positioned for success from the outset. This role demands a blend of consultative skills—understanding and translating customer needs into technology solutions—and technical leadership—making architectural design decisions and diving deep into implementation details.
The ideal candidate for the Solutions Architect position is passionate about using technology to advance nonprofit missions. They demonstrate intellectual curiosity by staying current with AWS innovations and industry trends, and possess strong communication skills capable of engaging diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of specific technology domain areas such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data and analytics experience
- 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- excellent communication and consultative skills
- ability to lead technical discussions and customer engagements
- strong understanding of security best practices
- willingness to travel up to 30%
- ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams
- passion for working with nonprofits and social good organizations
Job Qualifications
- 5+ years of specific technology domain areas such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data and analytics experience
- 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
Job Duties
- Own the technical engagement and success of customer implementation projects
- design cloud architectures leveraging AWS services
- provide thought leadership on security best practices for applications, servers, and networks
- respond to RFPs and define implementation approaches
- serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
