Job Description

Werner Enterprises, founded by a driver for drivers, is one of the leading transportation and logistics companies in the United States. With a commitment to treating every driver with care, dignity, and respect, Werner has built a reputation as a premier employer in the trucking industry, especially recognized for its support towards military veterans and its diverse employment opportunities. Werner offers a wide range of driving positions tailored to meet the needs of solo and team CDL-A drivers, providing multiple routes and home time options that help drivers maintain a healthy work-life balance. The company is particularly known for its generous pay packages, comprehensive benefits, and modern equipment, making it an attractive choice for experienced drivers and recent graduates eager to advance their careers.

The role of Solo and Team CDL-A Driver at Werner is designed to accommodate different career stages and lifestyles. Whether you are a seasoned veteran specializing in refrigerated freight or a newcomer looking to build expertise through the Career Track program, Werner offers a variety of routes including dedicated, over-the-road (OTR), and regional options. Drivers benefit from a robust compensation structure where more than half of solo drivers earn over $75,000 annually, with top performers making between $90,000 and $100,000. Team drivers also enjoy competitive earnings ranging from $55,000 to $85,000 and more, with elite team division drivers earning between $90,000 and $110,000 per year. These figures vary by route, experience, and location but consistently reflect Werner’s commitment to rewarding hard work.

Werner drivers enjoy access to advanced technology and late-model equipment including leading-edge telematics, collision mitigation technology, truck navigation systems, and 100% trailer tracking, all designed to enhance driver safety and efficiency. The company also prioritizes driver support through a dedicated Driver Portal and app, 24-hour maintenance assistance, and company-paid tolls and fuel cards.

Driver well-being is a central focus at Werner, with extensive benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid sick leave, life insurance, disability coverage, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching. The company fosters a supportive culture with a Team Driver Matching Program that considers gender, veteran status, and preferences to ensure optimal team compatibility. For veterans and military affiliated drivers, Werner offers special programs including military skills test waivers and an elite veteran driver program. Additionally, the company provides tuition reimbursement up to $15,000 for qualifying drivers, a generous incentive to support career growth and continuing education.

Werner understands that home time is critical to drivers and therefore provides multiple options including daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and tri-weekly time off. About 80% of solo drivers get home weekly or better, allowing drivers to maintain valuable family and personal time. With over 250 home time and pay packages available, Werner ensures drivers can find a work schedule that suits their lives. Whichever you choose—solo, team, elite team, dedicated route, or OTR—Werner’s recruiting team is ready to match you with the best fit to meet your financial and lifestyle goals.

Working at Werner means being part of a company that values every driver as an essential part of the nation’s supply chain. If you are looking for a respected employer that offers competitive pay, excellent benefits, and diverse career advancement opportunities, then Werner Enterprises is the right place to start or continue your trucking career.
