Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • No prior experience required
  • Valid and unrestricted Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
  • Ability to obtain required CDL endorsements within 90 days of hire
  • Valid medical examiner's certificate at the time of hire
  • Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in various environmental conditions
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid and unrestricted Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
  • Preferred experience operating solid waste equipment like automatic side loaders, front loaders, rear loaders, or roll-off trucks
  • Preferred experience operating hydraulic equipment
  • Experience driving commercial vehicles (right-handed or curbside)
  • Experience following delivery routes and using routing systems
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service

Job Duties

  • Operate refuse collection vehicles and related equipment by following safe driving practices
  • Collect refuse, recyclables, brush, bulky items, and service containers on assigned routes
  • Utilize electronic software systems to view assigned routes, special instructions, and updates
  • Transport and dispose of collected waste and recyclables at designated sites in accordance with department policies
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service, offering information and resources related to refuse collection
  • Communicate with supervisors and dispatch via two-way radio, reporting incidents, unsafe conditions, and service issues promptly
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and report any operational issues or malfunctions
  • Participate in training, briefings, and meetings
  • perform additional duties such as cleaning motor pool areas and site inspections
