As a leading regional bank, PNC prides itself on its focus on customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and fostering an inclusive work environment that values diversity and inclusion among its employees. PNC's dedication to these core values is evident through its comprehensive employee benefits and a corporate culture that encourages professional growth and collaboration.
The role of Software Engineering Manager within PNC's Corporate Banking and Site Reliability Engineering Center is a critical leadership position based across several key IT hubs including Phoenix, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; Dallas, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; Cleveland, Ohio; or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The manager will lead the support, stability, modernization, and continuous improvement efforts for the essential payment platforms that support domestic, international, instant, and digital asset payments for the PINACLE Application/Platform.
This position is full-time and offers a base salary ranging from $100,100 to $204,490, with additional incentive eligibility based on company, business, or individual performance. The role demands a strong leader capable of managing geographically dispersed teams and operating within a globally distributed 24x7 environment. Responsibilities include overseeing application releases, managing major incidents, and ensuring the operational continuity and compliance of the payment platforms with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory requirements.
The Software Engineering Manager serves as the primary liaison between various business stakeholders, payment operations, vendors, and technology teams. They communicate application health, risks, incidents, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership, collaborate extensively with external payment networks, and spearhead automation and modernization initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in Java/J2EE, UNIX/Linux, Oracle SQL, DB2, IBM MQ, NDM/Connect:Direct, web services incorporating SOAP and REST APIs, CA7 scheduling, Elastic Search, and Oracle Analytics Server (OBIEE/OAS). Familiarity with corporate banking applications such as Java-based microservices, OpenShift Container Platform, MongoDB, and Kafka is also crucial. Furthermore, expertise in application monitoring, observability, performance tuning, capacity planning, and incident and change management processes is essential.
Leadership qualities highly valued in this role include the ability to mentor and develop payment domain expertise within teams, manage vendor relationships and technology roadmaps, lead operational excellence initiatives, and effectively communicate during critical incidents and major organizational initiatives. PNC fosters a supportive and inclusive workplace culture encouraging employees to feel respected, valued, and engaged while achieving work-life balance. The company emphasizes customer focus, risk management, intentional inclusion, living the corporate values, enabling change, achieving results, and developing talent.
PNC is an in-office company with a strong commitment to accessibility and equal employment opportunity. While it does not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position, PNC ensures accommodations for applicants who require them during the hiring process. Candidates interested in connecting with recruiters or hiring managers to understand workplace expectations are encouraged to do so.
