Located in Oklahoma City, OK, Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is currently seeking a Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer to join their innovative team focused on cutting-edge Mission Planning systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on state-of-the-art software products within a large and dynamic program supporting the entire software development lifecycle in an Agile Scrum environment. Responsibilities span from requirements definition, estimation, implementation, and unit testing to integration testing, software and hardware integration, test documentation, and customer support. As a Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging sophisticated software applications and systems that incorporate logical and mathematical solutions while adhering to rigorous software standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the software continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of essential business software. Additional duties include setting up and deploying development, test, and build environments, creating and updating Windows installation packages, and supporting software product testing. Adopting a proactive approach, you will contribute to automated test strategies, develop software test products like Verification Cross Reference Matrices, and author key documentation supporting software deliverables and test events. Furthermore, this role requires close liaison with customers on a technical level and may involve acting as a Scrum Master within the Agile Framework when necessary.

All work is required to be performed on-site in Oklahoma City, OK. Employment is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance with potential for Top-Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) clearances. The primary salary range for this position is approximately $75,100 to $112,700 annually, with the secondary range extending up to $139,900, reflecting factors such as experience, education, and market conditions. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Current DoD Secret Clearance adjudicated within last 5 years with ability to obtain Top-Secret and SAP clearances
  • Experience with Agile methodology and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools
  • Proficiency in C# and/or Java and object-oriented software design paradigms
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows technologies
  • Experience with test procedure development and maintenance
  • Skilled in scripting languages such as yaml, Python, PowerShell, Batch, or Typescript
  • Experience in automated test script or procedure development using tools like TestComplete 4
  • Understanding of revision control systems e.g. BitBucket, git, CVS
  • Strong hands-on system troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Job Duties

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software and systems ensuring software standards are met
  • Maintain and improve software CI/CD pipelines for fast, bug-free delivery of business software
  • Set up and deploy development, test, and build environments
  • Create and update Windows installers
  • Install, test, and verify software products
  • Provide support for software build and installation
  • Work within a cross-functional scrum to develop mission planning features
  • Understand third-party software and hardware peripherals to support implementation and integration
  • Develop software test products such as Verification Cross Reference Matrices and Software Test Plans
  • Define and develop test approaches for new software and system capabilities
  • Perform frequent Smoke Testing and Acceptance Testing on software builds
  • Resolve technical issues within and across scrums
  • Interface on a technical level with the customer
  • Support authoring and development of contract deliverable documentation
  • Help define automated test strategies
  • Support the Agile Framework as a Scrum Master when required
