Job Description
The Kensington Hotel on State Street is a distinguished boutique hotel located just minutes from downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. Known for its intimate setting and personalized service, the Kensington Hotel offers 200 well-appointed guest rooms that provide comfort and elegance to every visitor. The hotel prides itself on creating memorable experiences for guests through its unique blend of luxury, convenience, and attention to detail. As a part of the vibrant Ann Arbor community, the Kensington Hotel is committed to maintaining high standards of excellence while dynamically responding to the market needs. With attractive compensation, a generous benefits package, and a bonus program, the hotel is an excellent place for professionals seeking growth and meaningful careers in hospitality.
The Kensington Hotel is currently seeking an experienced and energetic Social Sales Manager with a specialized focus on weddings and the SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal) market segments. This pivotal role requires a candidate who is proactive, personable, and highly organized, with the ability to generate and secure new business accounts while cultivating strong relationships with current clients. The Social Sales Manager will play a critical role in driving hotel revenues by coordinating group room bookings, promoting meeting space, facilitating catering orders, and conducting contract negotiations and vendor agreements.
The successful candidate will work closely with event planners, corporate clients, and various community organizations, ensuring that the Kensington Hotel remains a preferred venue for weddings, social gatherings, and group events. Responsibilities include conducting sales tours, performing solicitation calls, and entertaining clients to boost business travel and group reservations. In addition, the Social Sales Manager will be instrumental in developing creative sales and marketing strategies, maintaining an up-to-date competitive analysis, and preparing comprehensive sales reports to inform management decisions. This role also demands a high level of visibility within the local community and active participation in industry organizations.
Flexibility in schedule is essential, as the position requires availability for nights and weekends based on business demands. Attention to detail is paramount, especially in delivering banquet event orders and resumes accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and a thorough understanding of hotel operations and policies. Being a team player who can assist co-workers and support the overall success of the sales department is highly valued. If you are a confident, dynamic sales professional with a passion for hospitality and event management, the Kensington Hotel offers an opportunity to excel in a rewarding and challenging environment.
