Job Description

Currently, The Tradition Senior Living is seeking a part-time Social Activities Assistant at their Houston - Buffalo Speedway community, specifically scheduled for weekend shifts. This role is designed to support the Social Program Director in creating and executing engaging social programs primarily for Memory Care and Assisted Living residents. The Social Activities Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors by organizing activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation, execution, and cleanup of social events, recruiting resident participants, maintaining accurate records of resident involvement and interests, and fostering strong relationships with residents, their families, and staff members. A successful candidate will be someone who combines energetic enthusiasm with compassion, demonstrating excellent communication skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

This part-time position offers flexibility with two available shifts: Sunday-Monday or Friday-Saturday. The Social Activities Assistant is expected to contribute to the upkeep of a balanced and varied activity calendar that aligns with resident interests and program requirements. The role also involves helping to produce the monthly resident newsletter and utilizing computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Publisher. The ideal applicant will have at least one year of relevant experience in event planning, hospitality, or senior living, possess strong organizational skills, exhibit sound judgment, and be capable of motivating others. Job Requirements

  • At least one year of event planning, hospitality or senior living experience
  • Knowledge of local community resources and vendors
  • Energetic and compassionate attitude
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Good judgment and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in computer and related software
  • Flexible availability for weekend shifts

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of event planning, hospitality or senior living experience or equivalent experience and education
  • Knowledge of local community resources, vendors and cultural groups

Job Duties

  • Assist in creating and maintaining a balanced social program calendar
  • Ensure social programs occur timely and as scheduled
