The Security Analyst Sr. (SOC Shift Lead - Information Security) role within Elevance Health's Cyber Security Threat Management team is a critical position responsible for overseeing the delivery and management of information and network security systems and technology services. This position operates with a primary schedule from 8 AM to 4 PM EST and offers a hybrid work model that requires the associate to be in-office 1 to 2 days per week, with a preferred location in Indianapolis, IN, or other locations within a commuting distance. The Security Analyst Sr. is tasked with managing various components, including servers, desktops, software, networks, databases, and helpdesk systems to ensure robust protection against evolving cybersecurity threats.
As a senior member of the Security Operations Center (SOC), the Security Analyst Sr. serves as the escalation point for junior analysts during security event investigations and incident response efforts. The role involves mentoring and guiding junior analysts to enhance the quality and consistency of investigations and operational activities. In addition to coordinating shift activities, maintaining coverage schedules, and assisting with PTO planning, the analyst supports the development and maintenance of SOC procedures, playbooks, and operational documentation.
This role also leads the resolution of complex technical issues, system implementations, and testing to guarantee the quality and security of deployed solutions. The Security Analyst Sr. prepares reports on data security events and incidents, supports network architecture initiatives, and provides risk assessment support to business and technology associates. The position entails representing significant system changes and upgrades in change control processes and managing vendor relationships to ensure security and business requirements are met.
In addition to incident management and technical leadership, the Security Analyst Sr. is responsible for conducting capacity analysis, supervising preventative maintenance, and leading incident recovery and root cause analysis initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in responding to incidents involving financially motivated and advanced persistent threat (APT) actors, with expertise in Windows and Cloud forensics, as well as experience working in a SOC environment. Technical security certifications and a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field are highly preferred.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in support and operations or design and engineering role in access management or network security technologies, servers, networks, network communications, telecommunications, operating systems, middleware, disaster recovery, collaboration technologies, hardware/software support or other infrastructure services role
- Experience providing top-tier support for 3 or more information security technology areas including access control, application security, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, cryptography, information security and risk management, legal, regulations, compliance and investigations, operations security, physical security, security architecture and design, telecommunications and network security
Job Qualifications
- Technical security certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, CompTIA CySA+, BTL2 strongly preferred
- Experience responding to incidents associated with financially-motivated and APT threat actors
- Strong foundational knowledge of Windows and Cloud Forensics
- BA/BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred
- Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment with incident monitoring, triage, and escalation responsibilities preferred
- Experience serving as a technical lead, shift lead, or escalation resource for security operations teams preferred
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms, endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, and security event analysis preferred
- Experience developing or maintaining SOC playbooks, runbooks, and standard operating procedures preferred
Job Duties
- Serve as escalation point for junior analysts during security event investigations and incident response activities
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts to improve investigation quality and operational consistency
- Coordinate analyst shift activities and assist with maintaining operational coverage schedules including on-call coordination and PTO planning
- Assist with development and maintenance of SOC procedures, playbooks, and operational documentation
- Provide trouble resolution on complex problems and lead implementations for system and network security technologies
- Develop testing plans to ensure quality of implementation
- Coordinate and prepare reporting of data security events and incidents
- Provide system and network architecture support for information and network security technologies
- Provide technical support to business and technology associates in risk assessments and implementation of appropriate information security procedures, standards, and technologies
- Represent major upgrades and reconfigurations in change control
- Design and analyze mix of vendor services meeting business and information security requirements
- Maintain relationship with key vendors
- Lead lights on initiatives to consolidate equipment and/or implement business relocations
- Determine and perform complex configuration changes to meet business and information security requirements
- Perform capacity analysis
- Recommend and implement capacity increases
- Serve as technical escalation for results of preventative maintenance routines
