In the role of Clerk/Skilled Nursing Concierge at Sunrise Senior Living, you become a vital part of the Skilled Nursing Center team. This position is often the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals, making it crucial for establishing a welcoming and professional atmosphere. The role entails performing clerical duties such as managing medical records, maintaining medical documentation, and handling communications with visitors and staff. You will be responsible for demonstrating Sunrise’s mission to champion quality of life for all seniors by supporting operational excellence consistent with federal, state, and local standards.

The position requires a keen eye for detail and a high degree of organization to ensure the accuracy and compliance of medical records and admission documentation. You will support risk management and safety initiatives by adhering to health and safety protocols and maintaining a safe environment. Additionally, this role necessitates excellent communication skills to effectively address inquiries and concerns from guests, residents, families, and team members, contributing to customer loyalty and trust.

Job Requirements

  • High school degree or GED
  • Proven customer service experience preferably in skilled nursing or long term care
  • Knowledge or experience in medical records management preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management abilities
  • Accurate record keeping skills
  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • Willingness to comply with all safety protocols including use of PPE, and other infection control guidelines
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings and health evaluations as required by law
  • Covid 19 and Influenza vaccination if mandated by applicable laws

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Oversees the Skilled Nursing Center entry area for visitors, families and guests/residents, extends a warm welcome and greeting
  • Serves as the telephone receptionist for the Skilled Nursing Center while meeting and/or exceeding hospitality and quality service standards
  • Takes complete messages with pertinent information (name, number, message) and communicates messages to the intended recipient
  • Assists guests/residents, families, visitors, physicians and Skilled Nursing team members as requested with information, supplies, records and messages
  • Performs clerical duties for the Skilled Nursing Center
  • Documents monthly physician orders on guest’s/resident’s chart
  • Maintains nurses stations including forms, files, drawers and cabinets
  • Sends get well cards to residents in the hospital
  • Orders Memory Flower for any residents that have passed away
  • Sends sympathy cards to families and/or responsible parties as needed
  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records in compliance with regulations
  • Ensures proper admissions documentation per admission procedures
  • Assembles and completes all new charts with guest/resident assigned medical records number, name, physician’s name and/or other relevant information
  • Maintains chart filing system for both current and discharged guests/residents
  • Manages discharged guest’s/resident’s charts and notifies Skilled Nursing Administrator of any deficiencies
  • Completes necessary information in the Death Registry when a resident expires
  • Provides administration and nursing leaders with statistical data as required
  • Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and promotes risk management programs
  • Practices safety procedures including use of PPE and fire safety equipment
  • Identifies potential hazards and maintains safe environment
  • Adheres to universal care precautions and infection control guidelines
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency policies and procedures
  • Responds to guest/resident, family, visitor inquiries and concerns professionally using Problem Resolution process
  • Communicates and assists other team members in accomplishing guest/resident care plans
  • Maintains confidentiality of guest/resident information
  • Participates actively as a team member and demonstrates Team Member Credo
  • Commits to serving guests/residents and visitors through Principles of Service
  • Contributes to engagement programs and attends regular meetings and training
  • Maintains compliance in required training and performs other duties as assigned
