Job Description

Our company is a well-established retail distributor specializing in smallwares and related products serving various sectors of the hospitality and food service industry. With a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, we pride ourselves on offering comprehensive product lines that cater to the specific needs of chefs, caterers, and food service managers. We operate a dynamic environment where efficient stock management and excellent customer service form the backbone of our business operations. The company fosters a collaborative culture that values employee contribution and continuous growth, making it an ideal workplace for individuals passionate about management and logistics within the retail supply chain.

The Smallwares Manager plays a pivotal role within the Small Wares department, reporting directly to the Branch Manager. This position is non-exempt and involves both supervisory responsibilities and substantial physical labor, with over 50% of the role encompassing manual work. The primary focus of the Smallwares Manager is to ensure the efficient receipt, stocking, and organization of smallwares inventory while maintaining exceptional standards for customer service. The manager oversees the orderly presentation of products on shelves, the rotation of merchandise to prevent shrinkage, and the compliance with pricing policies to reflect current market conditions accurately.

This role demands strong leadership capabilities to supervise smallwares supervisors (if applicable) and stockers, guiding and training them in job responsibilities and safety practices. The Smallwares Manager is also responsible for scheduling, monitoring employee performance, disciplining when necessary, and recommending hires after conducting interviews. A significant aspect of the job involves physically handling inventory, breaking down pallets, organizing product displays, and ensuring accurate inventory management through regular physical counts and appropriate adjustments.

Attention to detail is critical, particularly in maintaining correct shelf pricing, coordinating merchandise presentation with logical adjacencies, and ensuring signage accuracy, including flyer price reflections. The Smallwares Manager also spearheads efforts to maintain cleanliness and organization within the department, implementing a regular maintenance schedule for the storage area and ensuring excess inventory is properly stored. Communication with other inventory-related roles is essential to manage stock levels, prevent stockouts, and coordinate with vendors to secure competitive pricing, thereby minimizing inventory shrinkage and overstocks.

In addition to these operational tasks, the Smallwares Manager performs weekly audits and participates in additional projects as assigned by management. The role requires a balanced blend of physical stamina, strategic oversight, and interpersonal skills to meet company standards and foster a productive, customer-focused work environment. This position is suited for candidates who bring a strong commitment to company values, agility in physical tasks, and a keen eye for operational efficiencies, making it a vital member of our team dedicated to excellence in inventory management and customer service in the smallwares domain.
