Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, entrepreneurship, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience managing or delivering business development programs or services
- Strong event management and coordination skills
- Excellent communication and facilitation abilities
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and event planning software
- Commitment to racial equity and community engagement
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and strategic planning capabilities
Job Qualifications
- Strong commitment to the mission of the Urban League of Greater Madison and racial equity work
- Paid experience in managing or delivering business development programs or services to small businesses and entrepreneurs
- Bachelor's degree in business, entrepreneurship, or related field or equivalent work experience preferred
- Strong event management, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to develop strategic plans and tactical actions
- Goal-oriented, problem solver, and solution driven
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong customer service focus
- Knowledge of financial resources including grants and loans for small businesses
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, event planning tools, and relevant software platforms
Job Duties
- Proactively scout and onboard existing small businesses and emerging entrepreneurs
- Provide one-on-one strategic business coaching and consultation
- Design and execute business development programs and workshops
- Develop and support pathways to diverse capital streams
- Manage external partnerships with financial institutions and small business agencies
- Collaborate internally with Urban League staff and programs
- Lead market analysis and provide intelligence on regional business trends
- Organize and facilitate networking and training events
- Design and facilitate high-level professional events
- Coordinate event operations including vendor management and quality control
- Foster community building and network cultivation
- Monitor and report impact metrics to leadership
- Lead special projects and community engagement initiatives
- Participate in Urban League community engagement and outreach activities
