The Polysomnographic Technologist role at Dayton Children's - South Campus Sleep Lab is a full-time, specialized position focused on conducting comprehensive sleep studies and providing expert clinical and technical support in pediatric sleep medicine. This vital role requires a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with a deep understanding of sleep study protocols, staging, and technical scoring in accordance with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards. The technologist will work collaboratively with the ambulatory supervisor, Sleep Lab manager, and Chief Medical Director to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic and therapeutic services. This role is essential in delivering superior patient care by adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and values, ensuring a positive patient and family experience throughout the sleep study and treatment processes.

Key responsibilities of this role include performing patient assessments to identify specific needs, conducting polysomnographic studies, extended EEGs, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), and Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT). The technologist will apply and titrate therapeutic interventions such as oxygen therapy, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP). In addition, the technologist will be skilled in blood gas sampling and analysis and will provide educational support to patients and families to promote understanding and adherence to treatment plans.

This position offers a unique opportunity to advance expertise in pediatric sleep medicine by mentoring and orienting new and existing sleep technicians, scoring and staging studies with precision, calibrating and troubleshooting advanced equipment, and supporting the implementation of emerging testing modalities. The shift is a night schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, seven nights a week, emphasizing the need for professionals who are adaptable and committed to pediatric care in a demanding but rewarding environment.
