As a key player in the regional hospitality and gaming industry, Emerald Queen provides numerous employment opportunities characterized by competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and inclusivity. The casino operates with a mission to provide a superior entertainment atmosphere while honoring cultural heritage and promoting community development.
This full-time Slahal Barback role is integral in supporting the bartending team by performing essential barback duties to enhance guest service quality at the Slahal Restaurant. The position starts at a competitive hourly wage of $16.77 plus tips, with a prospective increase to $17.31 per hour plus tips upon successful completion of a 90-day orientation period. Employees enjoy employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, making this role both financially and professionally rewarding.
In this role, you will assist the bartenders by stocking beer, wine, liquor, mixers, ice, and dry goods, ensuring that the bar is always ready to serve guests efficiently. Providing excellent interaction and superior guest service is a critical part of the job, offering relief assistance to bar staff when needed, and maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the bar area at all times. Additionally, you will perform extra duties as assigned by the department manager, contributing to the smooth operation of the bar and restaurant environment.
This role demands individuals with strong communication skills who can work well with guests and co-workers alike. The ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs routinely, and tolerate a smoke-filled environment are physical requirements for this position. Flexibility to work various shifts, including day, swing, graveyard, and holidays, is necessary to meet business needs.
The position also requires candidates to obtain a Class III A gaming license as mandated by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission. Pre-employment drug testing is conducted, with an exception that marijuana use will not disqualify unless the role involves driving company vehicles. This role is geared toward someone passionate about hospitality, with a willingness to learn and provide high-level support in a fast-paced, guest-centric environment. The Emerald Queen Casino values equal employment opportunities and adheres to Indian Preference based on tribal policies.
