We are seeking a dedicated and talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Skyline at First Hill. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional passionate about food quality and team leadership, working within a transforming age community. The Sous Chef will play a crucial part in preparing delicious food that meets a variety of dietary needs while maintaining a well-organized and sanitary kitchen environment. This position is scheduled from Wednesday to Sunday, 11 am to 7 pm, with a competitive pay range of $24 to $31 per hour, depending on experience. As a reliable and valued member of our culinary staff, the Sous Chef will assist in managing kitchen operations and support the executive chef by overseeing kitchen staff, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with county and state food safety regulations.

The Sous Chef will also be responsible for conducting regular quality assurance audits to guarantee that all meals prepared meet our high standards. The individual in this role will foster a motivating and creative kitchen environment, encouraging teamwork and problem solving among staff. Additionally, they will participate in the hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen personnel while maintaining professional relationships with food and equipment vendors. The Sous Chef is empowered to act as the executive chef during their absence, ensuring seamless kitchen operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, the ability to prepare therapeutic and modified diets, and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a high standard of excellence in food service within a senior living setting.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a chef or kitchen manager in a senior living community is a plus

Job Duties

  • Prepare delicious food that meets a variety of dietary needs
  • conduct regular quality assurance audits to ensure food is well prepared and kitchen is neat and organized
  • kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling ensuring compliance with King County and DSHS regulations
  • maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors
  • hire, orient, train, and evaluate kitchen staff
  • assist with supervising utility and front of house staff as needed
  • create a motivating environment that encourages team members to be involved, creative, and problem solving
  • act as executive chef in their absence
  • perform other duties as assigned
