Job Description

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global aerospace and defense technology company renowned for its innovative contributions to national security and technological advancements. With a rich history that includes pioneering efforts such as the first transatlantic flight, stealth bomber development, and moon landing technology, Northrop Grumman continues to lead the industry through groundbreaking engineering and inventive spirit. The company employs over 100,000 professionals worldwide, many of whom are veterans, highlighting its deep connection and commitment to the military community. Northrop Grumman fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity, diversity, and a drive to achieve what others consider impossible, making it a premier workplace for talented individuals seeking to be part of history and future innovations.

The Principal Electronics Engineer (Level 3) or Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer (Level 4) position within Northrop Grumman's Air Dominance Division offers a remarkable opportunity for experienced engineers specializing in electronics and avionics. Based in Oklahoma City, OK, this role is pivotal in researching, developing, and sustaining avionics systems critical to national defense. The position is full-time with a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off, and does not offer hybrid or remote work options due to the hands-on and collaborative nature of the work. Engineers in this role engage in the design, integration, and testing of various electronic systems, including power generation, communications, flight controls, radar, navigation, and weapons systems. They also oversee complex circuitry, work closely with technical suppliers, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet stringent requirements and quality standards.

In addition to technical responsibilities, Principal and Senior Principal Electronics Engineers play a leadership role by mentoring junior engineers, managing supplier interfaces, and reporting directly to senior management and program leadership. The role demands a strong understanding of qualification and environmental testing for flight equipment, familiarity with nuclear and EMI disciplines, and the ability to manage integration on airborne platforms. A US Government Secret clearance is mandatory, with the potential to obtain a Special Access Program clearance. The position includes the possibility of participating in Northrop Grumman's SkillBridge Program, which supports military personnel transitioning to civilian careers by offering valuable, practical work experience.

Salary ranges for this role vary depending on experience and qualifications, with Principal Engineers earning between $93,300 and $139,900 annually and Senior Principal Engineers earning between $116,300 and $174,500. Beyond competitive salaries, Northrop Grumman offers an array of benefits such as health insurance, life and disability insurance, paid holidays, paid time off, and potential bonuses, thus supporting employee well-being and professional growth. This position is ideal for engineers passionate about contributing to cutting-edge defense technologies, working in a dynamic and mission-driven environment, and eager to lead technical innovation and collaboration across projects and teams.
