Job Description

Northrop Grumman is a leading global security company renowned for its pioneering technological advancements across multiple domains including aerospace, defense, and cybersecurity. With a rich heritage of innovation—from historic achievements like the first transatlantic flight to stealth technology and lunar exploration—Northrop Grumman continues to shape the future through its commitment to cutting-edge research and development. The company employs over 100,000 people worldwide and is highly dedicated to supporting veterans and reservists as they transition into civilian careers, demonstrating its deep commitment to national service and community engagement.

The Northrop Grumman SkillBridge Program offers transitioning military service members an exclusive opportunity to gain hands-on civilian work experience during their final six months of active duty. As an approved program under Department of Defense Instruction 1322.29, SkillBridge aligns military experience with industry needs, preparing participants for meaningful careers within Northrop Grumman. Opportunities within the program are designed for entry to mid-level career paths, providing comprehensive training, networking with leadership, and exposure to Northrop Grumman's leadership principles and mission "Defining Possible".

Currently, Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems division is seeking to fill the position of Flight Test Technician 3 or Flight Test Technician 4 at their facility in Palmdale, California. This is a 100% on-site role where the selected candidate will work closely within a highly skilled team, supporting crucial flight test operations. The position requires expertise in testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining aerospace systems such as fuel, hydraulics, environmental control systems, flight controls, propulsion, landing gear, communications/navigation/identification (CNI), and ground support equipment.

Candidates will engage in operating ground support equipment, performing inspections, servicing systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role often includes manual tasks such as the application of materials and coatings, reading and interpreting technical schematics, and executing test protocols under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers. Flexibility to work extended shifts, weekends, and holidays as required is essential.

The Flight Test Technician 3 role is tailored to candidates with a minimum of four years related experience, while the Technician 4 position requires six or more years, with a focus on flightline operations, aircraft systems, and related disciplines. Both roles require an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance or higher, ability to obtain Special Programs Access, and physical capacity to perform duties involving moderate strenuous activities and confined spaces.

Northrop Grumman offers competitive salaries ranging from $66,600 to $111,000 for Technician 3 and $79,100 to $131,900 for Technician 4, depending upon experience and qualifications. Additional compensation such as overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply. Employees benefit from a comprehensive benefits package including health and life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid holidays, and paid time off.

Joining Northrop Grumman means becoming a part of a diverse and inclusive workforce that thrives on ingenuity, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
