The Site Safety Manager role in the New York Metropolitan area is a critical position focused on overseeing contractor safety operations on NYC Transit station rehabilitation projects. As part of this role, the candidate will have a vital responsibility in ensuring that all safety regulations and protocols, including Building Code and OSHA requirements, are strictly adhered to on site. Working across various shifts including days, nights, and weekends as necessary, this role requires flexibility and a proactive approach toward maintaining a safe work environment. Typical hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., but candidates should be ready to work outside these hours when project demands require it.
This role involves conducting thorough safety inspections across multiple project sites, developing comprehensive reports after each inspection, and assisting in the formulation and evaluation of health and safety procedures and programs. The Site Safety Manager will also conduct safety-related training sessions and provide compliance support to various projects. An integral part of the role is to use extensive knowledge of OSHA, NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Department of Transportation (DOT), and various local, state, and federal safety regulations to ensure a culture of safety is maintained at all times.
Candidates for this position must possess at least four years of project safety experience, particularly with NYC Transit projects. Certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is required, along with OSHA 30 certification. Reliable transportation is essential for travel to different project locations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also necessary to effectively prepare reports and conduct trainings. LiRo-Hill invests strongly in its employees’ professional development, offering mentoring programs, continuing education opportunities, and a comprehensive compensation package ranging from $150,000 to $166,000 based on qualifications and location. The firm also offers an employee-only stock purchase plan, referral bonuses, and volunteer or industry association opportunities as part of its commitment to employee success and growth.
