Job Description
Suffolk is a leading national enterprise that excels in building, innovating, and investing across the construction and real estate sectors. Established as a significant force in construction management services, Suffolk further extends its expertise through complementary business lines including real estate investment, design, self-perform construction, and a technology start-up investment branch known as Suffolk Technologies. With more than $9 billion in annual revenue, Suffolk operates across 17 offices nationwide, including their headquarters in Boston and key markets such as New York City, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and several others. The company is renowned for managing some of the most complex and transformative projects in the United States, serving a diversified client base that spans healthcare, life sciences, education, gaming, aviation, transportation, government, mission-critical, and commercial sectors. Suffolk is privately held and led by founder, chairman, and CEO John Fish, ranking #8 on ENR's list of "Top CM-at-Risk Contractors." The company's commitment to innovation is evident in its Seamless Platform, which integrates data, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology to connect design, construction, and operations, delivering smarter and more predictable project outcomes while reshaping how America builds.
This role centers on joining Suffolk’s project teams across the U.S. as an on-site AI engineering catalyst who transforms AI concepts into practical solutions. The successful candidate will partner closely with project AI Champions such as Project Managers or Superintendents to identify pain points, redesign workflows, and implement AI agents that significantly optimize various project management activities. These activities include streamlining reporting, accelerating Requests for Information (RFIs), enhancing lookahead planning, improving progress updates, and overseeing materials tracking among others. The AI Engineer will also be tasked with developing user stories and coordinating closely with Suffolk’s central AI Studio for development efforts. This position is dedicated to advancing the vision of the "Construction Site of the Future" by demonstrating how agentic AI can revolutionize project operations. Located in Temple, TX, the role requires a blend of technical proficiency and hands-on project involvement to continuously drive AI adoption and innovation on-site. Responsibilities include opportunity hunting, workflow redesign, market solution assessments, rapid AI agent builds, enterprise-grade engineering and LLM operations, data integrations, cross-cloud orchestration, change enablement, stakeholder communications, and ensuring compliance with Suffolk's security and governance standards. The role also demands coordination with various internal teams to elevate prototypes to enterprise-grade applications while maintaining a rigorous focus on user adoption and return on investment. Overall, this position embodies Suffolk’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and collaborative expertise to shape the future of construction management, making it an exciting opportunity for AI engineers passionate about impactful tech deployment in a dynamic environment.
