Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is a leading global defense contractor specializing in high-technology solutions, products, and services tailored to support critical missions across all domains of operation. With a workforce of more than 12,000 highly skilled professionals worldwide, GDMS partners with top industry leaders to push the boundaries of innovation in defense and scientific sectors. The company is deeply committed to values such as trust, honesty, alignment, and transparency, making it not only a pioneering force in its industry but also a great place to work that fosters a shared sense of purpose.
At GDMS, employees benefit from a supportive and flexible work environment where their contributions are valued and rewarded. The company strongly encourages diversity and inclusivity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer that also supports individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
The role of SIPRNET Operations Manager at GDMS is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the organization's Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) administration functions across multiple geographically dispersed sites in the United States. This hybrid or remote position, with travel requirements based on business needs, demands an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance from day one and is open only to U.S. citizens due to the nature of the work.
The SIPRNET Operations Manager leads a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who ensure that SIPRNET environments maintain operational readiness, full compliance with policies and cybersecurity requirements, and continuous preparedness for Cyber Operational Readiness Assessments (CORA). This proactive oversight ensures that the network environments are secure and dependable every day of the year, rather than only during scheduled audits.
Success in this role requires a seasoned leader capable of independent decision-making, driving team accountability, influencing cross-functional collaboration, and escalating issues promptly to executive leadership. The ideal candidate is highly organized, execution-focused, and thrives within fast-paced, tightly regulated environments. Effective leadership will be demonstrated through the establishment of operational standards, risk communication, process improvements, and fostering a culture that values ownership and continuous excellence.
Beyond overseeing technical operations, this position plays a key role in planning and executing new deployments, technology refreshes, upgrades, and lifecycle initiatives that impact enterprise-wide classified infrastructure. The SIPRNET Operations Manager collaborates closely with multiple divisions, including Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Program Management, to ensure operational excellence.
The position offers a competitive salary range typically between $149,902 and $162,199 annually, reflective of experience and geographic factors. GDMS also prides itself on comprehensive benefits and a flexible work environment that promotes professional growth and work-life balance. Overall, this role provides an excellent opportunity for a qualified leader to contribute their expertise at a forward-looking defense technology company dedicated to innovation, operational excellence, and mission success.
