The Side Cook position at Aramark offers a unique opportunity to express culinary creativity while working with fresh ingredients and modern kitchen equipment. As a Side Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes by following standardized recipes and production guidelines. Your duties will include organizing workstations, preparing ingredients using various methods such as cutting, trimming, and blending, and cooking through baking, roasting, steaming, and other culinary processes. The role also involves plating and garnishing food to meet high presentation standards while adhering to all food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas and equipment is essential to ensure a safe food preparation environment.

Job Requirements

  • previous history in the kitchen or a relevant culinary setting
  • thorough knowledge of cooking methods and principles governing food preparation
  • understanding of food safety standards and hygiene protocols
  • certification in food safety if not previously obtained
  • foundational skills in mathematics and counting
  • skillful in communication and teamwork
  • high school diploma or equivalent is preferable but not mandatory

Job Duties

  • create a diverse selection of dishes using standardized recipes and production guidelines
  • prepare workstations by organizing required ingredients and utensils
  • prepare ingredients by cutting, trimming, quantifying, blending, and so on
  • utilize different kitchen utensils and equipment like knives, ovens, stovetops, and mixers safely by following recommended guidelines
  • prepare and cook dishes through baking, broiling, roasting, steaming, and other culinary processes
  • arrange, adorn, and serve food in a manner that meets prescribed criteria for its visual display
  • conform to all food safety regulations and store food in the recommended manner
  • sanitize and disinfect kitchen areas, gear, and utensils to ensure a safe food preparation environment
  • offer outstanding customer care and exude a positive outlook
  • adhere strictly to all safety and sanitation rules prescribed by Aramark
