This role of Shuttle Driver is a crucial component within the company’s logistics and operations team. Serving as a Shuttle Driver, the individual will be responsible for delivering loaded trailers to shuttle depots and returning empty trailers back to the branch. The position demands strict adherence to delivery schedules and prompt communication of any issues to supervisors. Drivers are expected to operate within the company’s safety standards while embodying professionalism, maintaining a positive attitude, and following company dress and cleanliness codes. The nature of the job requires physical agility, ability to handle repetitive lifts over 50 pounds, and capability to work under various weather conditions. Furthermore, the role is integral to supporting Ben E. Keith’s commitment to safe and efficient transport, leveraging technology such as dash cameras with artificial intelligence to help monitor and encourage safe driving practices. Job Requirements
- must have a valid state issued Class A CDL driver’s license with Double/Triple Trailer endorsements
- must be DOT certified
- at least 1 year of DOT driving experience required
- must have a good driving record with no more than 1 moving violation in the past three years
- applicant must pass required drug and physical screening
- must be able to climb in and out of truck and trailer
- must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs
- must be able to perform repetitive lifts over 50lbs
- must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
- must be able to read numbers and product descriptions
- must have high school diploma or GED – work experience may be substituted for education
Job Qualifications
- valid state issued Class A CDL driver’s license with Double/Triple Trailer endorsements
- DOT certification
- at least 1 year of DOT driving experience
- ability to operate/drive single axle with 28 ft, 36 ft, and 48 ft trailers with tandem axle tractors
- good driving record with no more than 1 moving violation in past three years
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
Job Duties
- deliver loaded trailers to shuttle depot and pick up empty trailers to return
- maintain delivery time windows
- immediately communicate problems with supervisor
- perform duties by following the company’s safety standards
- represent Ben E. Keith with professionalism, maintaining a positive attitude, following dress code and cleanliness standards
