The organizational culture emphasizes inclusivity, safety, respect, and recognition, fostering a rewarding and supportive workplace environment for its employees.
The role of Driver, Shuttle at Core-Mark plays a crucial part in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the food distribution system. This position is vital in the transportation of empty trailers to various Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers back to domicile or shuttle yard locations. Drivers will operate tandem trailers, tractor trailers, or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. Adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations and company policies is paramount in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods. Drivers act as the face of the company, developing strong customer relationships while delivering exceptional service. This role offers competitive compensation starting at $24 per hour, with a notable $4,000 sign-on bonus and a 4-day workweek from Sunday to Thursday nights starting at 6 pm dispatch.
Key responsibilities include performing thorough pre- and post-trip safety inspections, reporting maintenance or safety issues, securing cargo properly, and completing all necessary paperwork for each route. Drivers will also carry out hook and unhook procedures, park and store trailers safely, manage damaged goods and customer returns, and maintain organization and cleanliness in both tractor and trailer areas. Compliance with federal, state, and company regulations in documenting hours of service and maintaining DOT health requirements is essential. The position demands physical ability, including lifting and maneuvering product cases typically weighing between 60 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
Core-Mark provides a supportive work environment with comprehensive employee benefits from day one, including health and wellness plans, employee stock purchase options, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Employees are encouraged to grow professionally through various developmental opportunities.
