Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), specializes in supplying a diverse range of food products to various local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Known for its strong customer relationships, the company employs a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts who provide tailored advice aimed at improving operations, menu development, product selection, and overall strategic business growth. This commitment goes beyond just delivering products; Performance Foodservice actively supports independent restaurant owners in achieving their long-term business goals, making it a valued partner in the food distribution industry.

The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is a critical position that supports the efficient transportation and timely delivery of trailers within the company's logistics network. This role focuses on moving empty trailers to operating warehouses and transporting full trailers loaded with various products back to home and shuttle yard locations. Shuttle Drivers operate tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and sometimes straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. This position maintains a strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and ensures all vehicles and freight meet safety standards.

As a Shuttle Driver, you'll be expected to perform detailed pre- and post-trip safety inspections, address equipment or safety concerns promptly, follow established company policies and DOT safety regulations, and handle the secure loading and unloading of freight. Responsibilities include accurate and safe driving along predetermined routes, securing equipment and freight appropriately, performing trailer hook and unhook procedures, and maintaining clean and orderly vehicles and loading areas.

Performance Foodservice values professional communication and expects Shuttle Drivers to interact courteously and effectively with customers, vendors, and co-workers. The company promotes a team-oriented environment where personnel contribute to the overall success of the department and the organization. This position offers competitive hourly pay at $37.50, with a work schedule from Sunday through Thursday, primarily during evening hours starting between 5 PM and 7 PM.

Employees benefit from an inclusive culture that emphasizes safety, respect, and recognition. Performance Foodservice offers a comprehensive benefits package including Day 1 health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401k employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and additional incentives that support career growth and personal development. This role is ideal for individuals with a commercial driving background looking to join a stable and supportive company that plays a crucial role in America’s food distribution system.
