Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a branch of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to supporting a diverse set of customers across the United States. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG stands out not only by delivering high-quality food products but also by fostering strong, consultative relationships with its clients. Their team, composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and various experts, works closely with customers to provide tailored advice aimed at improving operations, menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies. This personalized approach helps independent restaurant owners and operators achieve their business dreams by enhancing efficiency and profitability through thoughtful foodservice solutions.

Performance Foodservice operates within a culture that values safety, inclusivity, and respect. The company places a strong emphasis on employee wellbeing, offering competitive pay and comprehensive benefits that start on Day 1. These benefits include health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and opportunities for career growth. The company also fosters an environment where rewards and recognition are part of the daily work culture, ensuring employees feel valued and supported throughout their careers.

The role of Shuttle Driver is vital to the operational success of Performance Foodservice. As a Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for transporting empty trailers to various Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers loaded with a variety of products back to domicile or shuttle yard locations. This position requires expertise in safely driving tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks over both intrastate and interstate routes.

Adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, you will conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure compliance and safety standards. The Shuttle Driver not only handles transportation but also secures freight properly and performs hook/unhook procedures based on safety guidelines. Maintaining accurate records such as hours of service logs is a critical part of this role to align with federal and company policies.

Beyond the driving duties, this position requires frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers, necessitating professional communication skills to resolve queries promptly and accurately. The Shuttle Driver is seen as a team player who contributes to the department and company in various ways, including general housekeeping duties like unloading equipment and keeping areas clean.

The position requires working a night schedule from Sunday through Thursday, typically dispatched between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, with a competitive hourly wage of $37.50 paid weekly. The role demands physical capability to hand-lift product cases ranging from approximately 60 to 90 pounds and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates for handling freight.

Joining Performance Foodservice as a Shuttle Driver means becoming an essential part of America's food distribution system. You will have the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to a safe and inclusive workplace. This role combines critical logistics responsibilities with a supportive work environment, reinforcing the company’s commitment to operational excellence and employee satisfaction.
