Job Description
Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor committed to serving a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice builds strong, lasting relationships with its customers. The company goes beyond simply supplying food; it offers valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies. This holistic approach helps independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their business goals and deliver exceptional dining experiences to their customers.
Performance Foodservice prides itself on fostering a safe and inclusive working environment characterized by a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. The company values growth opportunities for its employees, encouraging personal and professional development while playing an essential role in supporting America’s food distribution system. Employees benefit from competitive pay, inclusive health and wellness benefits starting from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and many other perks.
The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is pivotal to the smooth functioning of the company’s logistics operations. This position involves transporting empty trailers to the operating company warehouse locations and returning to deliver full trailers containing various products to domicile or shuttle yard locations. Shuttle Drivers operate tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring timely and safe delivery in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role demands precision, safety consciousness, and professionalism as drivers frequently interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers, answering questions and resolving issues promptly.
In addition to driving responsibilities, Shuttle Drivers perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, report maintenance and safety concerns, follow all DOT regulations, and adhere to company driving policies. They are expected to properly secure freight, handle hook/unhook procedures safely, and manage paperwork accurately. This role requires performing general housekeeping duties around the truck and loading dock area and occasionally handling damaged goods or customer returns.
The position offers a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000 per year with a work schedule from Sunday to Thursday, dispatching at 6 pm. This third-shift schedule supports the company’s operational needs and ensures the timely distribution of food products. Performance Foodservice supports equal employment opportunities for all employees and applicants, promoting diversity and inclusion regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected category under applicable laws.
