Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its extensive product portfolio that includes meats, produce, frozen foods, dry goods, and much more. With a strong culture focused on promoting from within, excellent training programs, and a continuous improvement mindset, US Foods has built a reputation as a leader in the food distribution industry. The company is dedicated to helping its customers thrive by providing high-quality products and outstanding service, while also fostering a supportive environment for its employees. US Foods' commitment to safety, employee development, and competitive compensation makes it a highly desirable workplace for professionals seeking long-term career growth.

The role of Shuttle Driver at US Foods offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the transportation and logistics sector of the foodservice industry. Shuttle Drivers are responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers to and from remote dispatch sites, ensuring timely and secure transportation of various food products including meats, produce, frozen items, and dry goods. Drivers work primarily on a Sunday through Thursday schedule, from 5 pm to 4 am, and have the earning potential of $26.45 per hour, with opportunities for overtime and additional incentives based on performance metrics such as cases handled, mileage, and stops.

This position emphasizes safety as a core value, requiring drivers to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their equipment to maintain compliance and vehicle integrity. Shuttle Drivers may also be called upon to fulfill other roles within the company, such as backhaul or delivery driving, providing varied and dynamic job responsibilities. The role demands comfort with overnight work schedules and the ability to operate manual transmissions in some cases. Additionally, successful candidates must be proficient in reading and communicating in English to effectively interact with highway signage, official inquiries, and company reporting requirements.

US Foods actively supports its drivers through a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K retirement savings plan, life insurance, and a strong safety culture among other valuable employee-focused programs. The company is also steadfast in complying with regulatory requirements, including mandatory registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse to ensure adherence to federal drug and alcohol testing standards for commercial drivers.

At US Foods, the Shuttle Driver role is more than just operating a vehicle; it is a critical link in the supply chain that helps communities thrive by delivering essential food products. The company values integrity, reliability, and relationship-building, making the Shuttle Driver a vital ambassador to customers and the community. With competitive compensation, career advancement prospects, and a supportive work environment, US Foods invites qualified candidates to join its team and make a meaningful impact in the foodservice industry.
