Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor renowned for its commitment to excellence and customer service. Operating within the food distribution industry, Performance Foodservice maintains strong partnerships with a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company's team comprises sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who collaborate closely with customers to improve operations, develop menus, select products, and implement effective operational strategies. This comprehensive approach ensures that Performance Foodservice not only delivers high-quality food products but also supports its customers in achieving their business goals and dreams.
Performance Foodservice fosters a culture of safety, respect, and inclusivity where employees are valued and recognized for their contributions. The company offers competitive pay and an extensive benefits package, including day one health and wellness benefits, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, an employee stock purchase plan, education assistance, and paid time off. Employees can expect growth opportunities in a company dedicated to supporting America's essential food distribution system with a safe and rewarding work environment.
The role of Shuttle Driver is a vital position within Performance Foodservice’s logistics team. Shuttle Drivers are responsible for transporting empty and full trailers between Operating Company warehouse locations and domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role requires driving tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes while ensuring all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are followed.
Shuttle Drivers play an essential role in maintaining the flow of goods within the company's supply chain, helping to ensure timely deliveries that keep the food distribution network efficient and reliable. This position requires strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, addressing inquiries with accuracy and promptness. Drivers also function as integral team members, performing duties as assigned to support company operations.
The position offers a competitive hourly rate starting at $29.70, with additional compensation components provided after a brief training period. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday with variable start and end times, with the advantage of being home daily. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a Doubles Endorsement and meet all state licensing requirements. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and have a clean Motor Vehicle Record for the past three years.
Shuttle Drivers are responsible for conducting required safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles and trailers to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. They must report any safety issues or needed repairs promptly, secure freight properly, and ensure all routing paperwork is in order before dispatch. Drivers are expected to perform hook and unhook procedures safely, park and store vehicles appropriately, and complete daily logs documenting hours of service.
The role also involves handling damaged goods and customer returns, unloading equipment and materials, maintaining cleanliness of trailers, and other housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Performance Foodservice values safety, professionalism, and teamwork, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced CDL A drivers to join a respected company offering stability, growth, and comprehensive benefits.
