Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, renowned for its comprehensive product offerings ranging from meats and produce to frozen foods and dry goods. The company is deeply committed to a culture that promotes from within, ensures excellent training programs, and fosters a continuous improvement mindset. With a strong presence across the country, US Foods supports a diverse range of customers including restaurants, healthcare facilities, schools, and hospitality venues. Known for its dedication to quality and service, the company plays a key role in shaping communities through its products and services, helping customers succeed in their businesses. The organization emphasizes safety, reliability, and integrity in all aspects of its operations, positioning itself as a leading player in the foodservice distribution industry.

The role of a US Foods Driver is an essential position within the company, focusing on operating tractor trailers to transport various products safely and efficiently. This position primarily involves driving trucks loaded with diverse items such as meats, frozen foods, produce, and dry goods to and from remote dispatch sites. The driver is expected to maintain high safety standards while on the road, performing pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and following protocols to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. The job requires comfort with overnight shifts, as the scheduled working hours start at 6 PM from Sunday through Friday, creating a stable five-day work week.

US Foods offers a competitive hourly rate starting at $26.75, with opportunities for overtime compensation based on hours worked beyond the regular schedule. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K retirement plans, life insurance, and a culture that prioritizes safety and employee well-being. By joining US Foods, drivers become part of a work environment that values continuous growth and development, with a track record of advancing employees through various career paths. Drivers may also be called upon to perform duties related to backhaul or as delivery drivers, highlighting the role's flexibility and importance within the broader logistics operations.

The ideal candidate must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications, and have a minimum of six months commercial driving experience. A doubles endorsement is required, with preference given to those who have relevant experience using this endorsement. The position also favors applicants who are comfortable driving in inclement weather conditions and have the ability to operate a manual transmission, which may be required depending on the location. Effective communication skills in English are essential to understand traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and accurately complete reports and records.

At US Foods, drivers are valued as the face of the company on the road and in customer interactions. Beyond logistical responsibilities, drivers are expected to uphold the company’s cultural beliefs emphasizing work ethic, collaboration, and service excellence. The company supports all drivers in registering with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a federally mandated database designed to maintain safety through real-time monitoring of drug and alcohol program violations. This role not only offers financial and practical benefits but also a chance to be part of an industry leader committed to supporting its workforce and customers alike.
