Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor known for its commitment to exceptional service and quality. The company works closely with a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and fast-food establishments. This highly customer-centric approach is supported by a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who assist customers in enhancing their operations, developing innovative menus, selecting products, and implementing effective operational strategies.
Performance Foodservice prides itself on not just delivering delicious food but also fostering partnerships that help independent restaurant owners and other customers achieve their business goals. The company offers a safe and inclusive working environment that emphasizes respect, recognition, and rewards, striving to maintain high employee satisfaction and retention. Performance Food Group upholds strong equal employment opportunity practices, following all applicable local, state, and federal laws to ensure a diverse and supportive workplace.
The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is essential to the smooth operations of the company’s supply chain and logistics. This position is primarily responsible for transporting empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering loaded trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. As part of this role, the driver operates a tandem trailer, tractor trailer, and/or straight truck on both intrastate and interstate routes. The job entails adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies to ensure the safe and timely transport of goods.
The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday evenings, with dispatch hours from 6 PM to 8 PM. New hires are required to complete a mandatory 2-week training program held in Little Rock, with travel and logistics arranged during the interview phase. The pay rate for this role ranges from $204 to $255 per night, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the position.
Shuttle Drivers play a vital role not only in the physical movement of trailers and goods but also in maintaining communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional manner. The role demands attention to safety by performing all required vehicle inspections before and after trips, reporting safety concerns, and ensuring freight is properly secured. Drivers follow established routes and schedules, manage equipment hook/unhook procedures, and park vehicles in designated areas. Additionally, they are responsible for securing damaged goods or customer returns, unloading equipment, and keeping their work areas clean and organized.
This position is a great opportunity for individuals seeking to join a reputable company that values its employees and offers numerous benefits such as day one health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company also emphasizes career growth opportunities, providing a pathway for drivers to advance within the organization. Working as a Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice means being part of a vital operation that supports America’s food distribution system in a safe, respectful, and rewarding environment.
