The role of Yard Hostler within MedTrans is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of this critical supply chain. This position involves the operation of yard tractors to shuttle trailers and containers around designated areas, often navigating tight quarters and uneven surfaces typical of busy distribution centers. A Yard Hostler ensures that trailers are efficiently moved, staged, and prepared for shipping or unloading, contributing directly to the overall productivity of the shipping department.

The candidate will perform daily inspections on vehicles to confirm their safety and operational readiness, strictly adhering to Federal and State regulations regarding commercial motor vehicle operation. Maintaining accurate logs and clear communication via phone or radio is also a key responsibility, allowing for real-time coordination with shipping coordinators and other team members. Additionally, the Yard Hostler will handle physical tasks such as refueling vehicles, conducting inventory of yard trailers, and setting up for load outs, which requires lifting up to 55 pounds and working in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and dust.
