The role of Bakery Manager at ShopRite is central to upholding these commitments within the Bakery Department. Reporting directly to the General Store Manager, the Bakery Manager is responsible for directing and supervising all bakery functions and associate activities to ensure sales, profit, customer experience, and associate engagement goals are met or exceeded. This position requires a dedicated leader who can effectively manage daily operations including food safety, employee training, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency. Through adherence to ShopRite’s service priorities of Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency, the Bakery Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the department’s reputation and success.

The Bakery Manager leads a team of associates, fostering a positive work culture that encourages enthusiasm, loyalty, and creativity. Besides overseeing compliance with health and safety regulations such as HAACP and HAZCOM, the Manager ensures the production area is organized, clean, and fully stocked. This role involves hands-on responsibilities including unloading deliveries, performing inventory checks, managing temperature logs, and overseeing food safety certifications. Furthermore, the Bakery Manager actively participates in staffing decisions, interviews, and onboarding new employees, ensuring that all labor laws are strictly followed while continuing to develop staff through performance feedback and training.

Charged with maintaining high standards in product presentation, the Bakery Manager ensures all items are properly labeled, rotated, and displayed according to company policies. This includes the implementation of seasonal promotions and featured items to attract and inform customers. Financial acumen is also essential in this role as the Manager monitors department financials and adjusts operations to achieve set budgetary goals while minimizing shrink and adhering to pricing and inventory procedures. Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language

  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift

  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift 60 lbs
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas
  • Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies
  • Ability to engage and lead Associates to achieve department goals

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English

  • Experience in bakery or food retail management preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Capability to stand, walk, and lift up to 60 lbs during shifts

Job Duties
