The Bakery Manager role at ShopRite is a vital leadership position responsible for overseeing all functions and activities within the Bakery Department. This role requires an individual who can effectively direct the department team to achieve sales targets, maximize profitability, enhance customer experience, and foster associate engagement. Reporting to the General Store Manager, the Bakery Manager will supervise bakery associates, manage daily operations, and ensure compliance with company policies and food safety standards.

Serving as the face of the Bakery Department, the Bakery Manager must demonstrate strong leadership skills to train, motivate, and develop team members while maintaining high standards of product presentation and department cleanliness. Responsibilities include enforcing safety and food handling procedures in line with HACCP guidelines, maintaining temperature and production logs, overseeing inventory management, and ensuring all products are properly priced and merchandised. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is critical, as is adherence to compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

This full-time employment opportunity demands a hands-on manager who can stand, walk, lift products up to 60 lbs occasionally, and work in varying temperatures while maintaining a positive and cooperative attitude. As part of the role, the Bakery Manager will handle onboarding and training of new associates, provide continuous feedback and developmental plans, and promote associate enthusiasm and loyalty. Adhering to company shrink guidelines and labor laws, including those specific to associates under 18 years, is mandatory.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • direct and supervise all functions and activities of the Bakery Department and its associates to achieve sales, profit, customer experience, and associate engagement goals
  • enforce all company policies, including safety, health, and food handling procedures
  • maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment according to quality assurance standards
  • greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance
  • assist with onboarding new associates including interviewing, selection, and training
  • provide continuous training and meaningful feedback to associates
  • ensure product is fully stocked, rotated, and properly priced according to company standards
  • oversee the use and maintenance of bakery equipment and ensure associates adhere to safety protocols
  • verify accuracy of invoices and maintain accurate reports and records
  • utilize required technology for bakery operations
  • monitor department financials and adjust operations to meet goals
  • enforce department staffing and scheduling according to business needs
  • assist with preparation of food products, catering, and special orders as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned
