Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand the English language
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without allergic consequences
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during housekeeping duties
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and QA standards including safety, personal hygiene, and clean cases and equipment
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with attendance policies
  • Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, slicing machines

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment according to sanitation standards
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance
  • Maintain and properly use all department equipment
  • Pack out product into display cases
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness
  • Ensure accurate signage for the department
  • Prepare trays to company and customer satisfaction
  • Perform duties according to local, state and federal bakery regulations
  • Adhere to company rules, policies, safety requirements, and security standards
  • Dress and groom according to company policy
  • Perform duties in accordance with quality assurance hand washing standards and wear disposable gloves when handling food
  • Place reclamation in its proper location
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise
  • Check prices and be knowledgeable about item locations
  • Promote charitable sales to customers
  • Stand at work station for duration of scheduled shifts
  • Receive deliveries
  • Assist other departments when instructed
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Follow the HAZCOM program and chemical safety
  • Follow procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, price marking, arranging and restocking products
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to policy
  • Check refrigeration equipment and report failures
  • Understand and follow company shrink guidelines
  • Maintain equipment and report problems
  • Complete department training programs
  • Perform duties according to ShopRite service priorities
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Operate machinery if over 18
  • Perform other assigned duties
