The role of Bakery Clerk at ShopRite is an important position within the bakery department that supports the Bakery Manager and other team members in daily store operations. Job Requirements
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English
- Ability to perform basic math
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in varying temperatures
- Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without allergic consequences
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during housekeeping duties
- Ability to maintain department sanitation and QA standards
- Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies

Job Duties
- Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
- Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with sanitation and quality assurance standards
- Keep floor clear of debris and spills
- Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance
- Maintain and properly use all department equipment as required
- Pack out product into display cases
- Rotate product to ensure freshness
- Ensure accurate signage for the department
- Prepare trays to company and customer satisfaction
- Perform all duties in compliance with local, state and federal bakery regulations
- Adhere to company policies, safety requirements and security standards
- Dress and groom according to company policy
- Perform duties in accordance with hygiene standards and use disposable gloves when handling food
- Place reclamation in its proper location
- Unload trucks and transport merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs
- Check prices and be knowledgeable about item locations
- Promote current charitable sales to customers
- Stand for duration of scheduled shifts
- Receive deliveries
- Assist in other departments as instructed
- Work overtime as needed
- Follow company HAZCOM program for safe chemical use
- Follow approved procedures for receiving, storing, and price marking products
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to policy
- Check refrigeration equipment and report failures
- Understand shrink guidelines
- Utilize and maintain equipment
- Complete all applicable training programs
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance
- Work cooperatively with others
- Perform other duties as assigned
