The role of a Bakery Associate at ShopRite is essential in supporting the Bakery Manager in managing the daily operations of the bakery department. This position is geared towards individuals who can deliver a great customer experience while performing baking, dough mixing, icing, packaging, and filling of designated pastry and bread items. The associate plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing bakery environment, which contributes to the overall satisfaction of customers. Duties are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations, as well as company policies and quality assurance standards.

Aside from preparing delicious bakery products, the Bakery Associate is responsible for routine sanitation, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. The role requires a physical capability to stand or walk for long periods, lift and move heavy merchandise, and work in varying temperature conditions. Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand the English language
  • Ability to stand or walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies
  • Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service
  • Maintain and properly use all department equipment
  • Pack out product into display cases
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness
  • Ensure accurate signage for the department
  • Prepare trays to company and customer satisfaction
  • Perform all duties in accordance with health regulations
  • Dress and groom according to company policy
  • Follow QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food
  • Follow recipes to produce food products
  • Set up and operate baking equipment
  • Prepare special order requests
  • Track movement of sales on production logs
  • Take and manage inventory
  • Handle reclamation and damaged goods
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandise
  • Check prices and product location knowledge
  • Promote charitable sales
  • Stand for duration of scheduled shifts
  • Receive deliveries
  • Assist other departments
  • Use chemical products safely
  • Comply with company rules, policies, and safety standards
  • Handle product receiving, storing and restocking
  • Understand and adhere to shrink guidelines
  • Maintain equipment and report problems
  • Check refrigeration equipment performance
