This position is for a Bakery Associate at ShopRite, a vital role within the bakery department responsible for assisting the Bakery Manager in the daily operations. The role involves baking, mixing dough, icing, packaging, and filling designated pastry and bread items. It demands a strong attention to cleanliness and presentation to maintain a neat, visually appealing, and sanitary environment in the bakery. The Bakery Associate plays a key role in ensuring customers receive fresh, quality bakery products delivered with excellent service. Job Requirements

  • ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull and lift regularly 25 lbs and occasionally 50 lbs
  • ability to work in varying temperatures
  • ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
  • ability to maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • ability to work overtime as assigned
  • ability to comply with all company safety rules and policies
  • must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with sanitation standards
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance
  • Maintain and properly use all department equipment as required
  • Pack out product into display cases
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness
  • Ensure accurate signage for the department
  • Prepare trays to company and customer satisfaction
  • Perform all duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Dress and groom according to company policy
  • Follow QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food
  • Follow recipes to produce food products of specified flavor, texture, clarity, bouquet, or color
  • Set up, operate, and tend bakery equipment according to formulas or recipes
  • Prepare special order requests
  • Track movement of sales on production logs
  • Take complete and accurate inventory of supplies weekly and reorder as needed
  • Place reclamation in proper location
  • Lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandise
  • Check prices and be knowledgeable about item locations
  • Promote charitable promotions to customers
  • Stand at work station for extended periods
  • Receive deliveries
  • Assist in other departments when instructed
  • Perform duties in accordance with company’s HAZCOM program and safety standards
  • Follow procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and restocking products
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy
  • Adhere to company shrink guidelines
  • Utilize and maintain bakery equipment and report any issues
  • Check refrigeration equipment regularly
  • Complete department training programs
  • Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite service priorities
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • Work overtime as assigned
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines if 18 or older
  • Perform other duties as assigned
