The role available at SCHEELS is designed for individuals who are passionate about sports, footwear, and customer service. This position involves managing the shoe departments, including Men’s, Women’s, and Youth shoes, by efficiently retrieving and organizing inventory from back stocks and staging areas for sales associates. Additionally, the role requires processing unpurchased items and customer returns to their correct locations while maintaining inventory accuracy and a clean, organized workspace. The associate is expected to engage proactively with customers, offering assistance with a warm, welcoming demeanor, and to ensure all necessary technology and devices are prepared and operational before each shift. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the candidate will work closely with Specialty Shop Managers and the broader team to address department needs, requiring both independent initiative and collaborative effort. The ability to perform basic calculations is also necessary for daily tasks. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including working varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with an average weekly workload ranging from 10 to 20 hours. Job Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to work assigned schedule, which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work every other Saturday and Sunday on a rotating weekend team
- Typical shifts include working 10am-7pm on Saturday, 11am-5pm on Sunday and occasional weekday shifts
- Must be willing to follow all safety procedures and perform job duties to minimize risk of injury
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1-3 months of related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present information clearly to customers and team members
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to perform basic calculations
Job Duties
- Effectively retrieve shoes from backstocks and transport them to the staging area for sales associates
- Process unpurchased items and customer returns back to their correct locations while maintaining an organized work environment to ensure inventory accuracy
- Assist in Men’s, Women’s and Youth shoe departments as needed
- Proactively engage customers with a warm, welcoming demeanor and offer immediate assistance
- Ensure all necessary technology and devices are prepped and functional prior to the start of each shift
- Partner closely with Specialty Shop Managers to identify and address urgent department needs
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the leadership team
