The Shift Supervisor role at Applegreen is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing shift operations within these bustling travel plazas. The Shift Supervisor plays an essential role in coaching and training new associates, maintaining operational compliance, and ensuring that cash handling procedures are strictly followed.
In this role, the Shift Supervisor will lead teams during shifts, promote a positive atmosphere that resonates with friendly and effective customer interactions, and manage the smooth operation of the plaza during their shift. Responsibilities include overseeing daily opening and closing procedures, operating the point-of-sale system accurately, ensuring correct food handling techniques, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. This leadership role also involves active cross-selling and upselling to optimize business performance and keeping well-informed about all products and services available to customers.

Job Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
- frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
- requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
- available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- Cash handling and customer service experience
- shift supervisor or leadership experience preferred
- ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
Job Duties
- Lead the activities of team members on shift
- consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers and appropriately resolve customer complaints
- complete opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures
- operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process and receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
- ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labelling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
- complete a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
- stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
- actively cross-sell and up-sell products
- maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
- assist in the training of new team members
- follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
- inform plaza leadership of any observations, concerns, or problems that are witnessed or experienced
- execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
