Job Description
Wonder is a groundbreaking mealtime platform dedicated to making world-class food accessible to everyone, regardless of their location. Founded with a mission to eliminate compromise in dining, Wonder brings a unique fusion of convenience, variety, and quality together in one seamless order experience. Through their innovative platform, customers can mix and match hundreds of dishes from over 20 exclusive restaurants, making it possible for every diner to satisfy their cravings in a single order. Whether customers prefer tacos or Thai, dine-in options or the convenience of pick-up, Wonder ensures each dish is freshly made on-site by a dedicated culinary team and served hot with zero delivery fees.
Beyond the customer-facing experience, Wonder controls the entire dining process behind the scenes. From meticulous recipe development to cutting-edge technology powering their platform, Wonder operates every step to uphold quality, variety, and consistency at scale. By owning and managing the entire operation, Wonder can guarantee a superior dining experience for all patrons. This commitment to excellence and innovation has positioned Wonder as a key player in the restaurant technology and food service industry.
The company offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities, with schedules tailored to meet varying business needs. One of their critical operational pillars is overnight service, typically running from late evening into early morning hours. To support these demanding shifts, employees receive competitive pay including a base rate of $21.00 per hour and an additional $2.00 per hour premium for overnight work between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM. The role is based in New Haven and involves a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
As a Shift Supervisor at Wonder, you will play a vital role in the kitchen operations, directly impacting food quality and customer satisfaction. This leadership position requires overseeing restaurant team members during opening, prep, and closing duties, coordinating closely with chefs and other departments to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow. You will be responsible for managing inventory, ensuring all safety and sanitation standards are strictly followed, and monitoring kitchen operational costs to align with budgetary goals. Supervising includes performing briefings, coaching, and training staff to promote a professional atmosphere that values both performance and ethics.
The ideal candidate for this position will exhibit strong leadership skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to motivate a diverse team within a high-volume setting. Clear and effective communication is essential for coordinating between kitchen and front-of-house teams and for maintaining transparency about supply levels and operational challenges. Health and safety are paramount, and the supervisor ensures all equipment is maintained, used safely, and that hygiene best practices meet regulatory requirements. Working overnight shifts requires adaptability and stamina, making this role ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to maintaining exceptional service standards throughout all hours.
Wonder is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring practices, ensuring fair evaluation of candidates based on potential and experience without discrimination. The company also participates in the federal E-Verify program to confirm employment eligibility, affirming its compliance with legal hiring standards. Joining Wonder means becoming part of a vibrant team passionate about delivering great food experiences while fostering career growth through ongoing learning and development opportunities.
