The role of Shift Supervisor at Applegreen is vital to ensuring smooth operational flow and superior customer experience at their travel plazas. As a Shift Supervisor, you will lead a team during your shift, ensuring that all members provide outstanding customer service, adhere to brand standards, and comply with food safety protocols. This position requires involvement in various operational tasks including opening, daily, and closing procedures to maintain consistent service quality.
You will be responsible for training new team members, overseeing compliance with cash handling policies, and maintaining a clean, sanitary, and well-stocked work environment. Handling customer interactions with professionalism and care, managing point-of-sale transactions accurately, and executing various kitchen-related duties such as prepping, cooking, and packaging food items, are key aspects of the role. Effective communication with plaza leadership regarding observations or concerns is also expected.
This position is suited for individuals who have prior experience in cash handling and customer service, and preferably with shift supervisory or leadership roles. It demands the ability to engage positively with customers and coworkers with a friendly and outgoing demeanor. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds. The work schedule is flexible and includes availability for days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
- Frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
- Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
- Available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- Cash handling and customer service experience
- Previous shift supervisor or leadership experience preferred
- Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
Job Duties
- Lead the activities of team members on shift
- Consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers and appropriately resolve customer complaints
- Complete opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process & receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labelling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
- Complete with a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
- Stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
- Actively cross-sell and up-sell products
- Maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
- Assist in the training of new team members
- Follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
- Inform plaza leadership of any observations, concerns, or problems that are witnessed or experienced
- Execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
