Job Description

Starbucks Coffee Company is a global leader in the coffeehouse industry, renowned for its commitment to crafting the world's finest coffee alongside creating meaningful and memorable moments for its customers. Founded with the mission to inspire and nurture the human spirit—one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time—Starbucks has grown from a single store in Seattle to a worldwide brand recognized for premium quality coffee and a welcoming atmosphere. Starbucks operates as a specialty coffee retailer and roaster, offering a wide variety of caffeinated beverages, teas, food items, and merchandise through its extensive network of stores. Dedicated to fostering community connections and delivering exemplary customer experiences, Starbucks champions inclusivity, respect, and diversity in its workplace culture.

The role of a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks is a dynamic and engaging position that blends leadership, operational excellence, and customer service expertise. As a Shift Supervisor, you will take charge of leading your store during assigned shifts, ensuring that every aspect of the coffeehouse runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining Starbucks’ high standards for quality products and customer interactions. This role demands not only a passion for coffee and the Starbucks brand but also a strong commitment to creating a warm, welcoming environment where partners and customers feel valued and connected.

In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coaching a team of baristas to deliver exceptional service and beverages that meet or exceed Starbucks’ exacting standards. Your ability to delegate tasks effectively and coordinate the efforts of your team while working alongside them on the floor is essential. Flexibility in working early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights is required to meet the needs of the business. The role offers significant opportunities for personal and professional growth through experiential learning and Starbucks’ industry-leading benefits.

Shift Supervisors play a critical role in upholding store policies, including cash handling, safety, and security protocols, while fostering a positive, energetic work environment. This position requires an individual capable of maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, demonstrating leadership that builds relationships, and communicating effectively with customers and partners alike. It is an ideal opportunity for those who thrive in fast-paced retail settings and enjoy leading by example in service excellence.

This position is an hourly wage role, with compensation reflecting the location and experience of the candidate. Starbucks provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ health, financial security, education, and work-life balance. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, disability benefits, paid parental leave, vacation accruals, sick leave, holiday pay, 401(k) matching, stock purchase plans, and access to tuition assistance programs such as the Starbucks College Achievement Plan. Starbucks is also committed to inclusive hiring practices, providing equal employment opportunities and accommodations as needed.

Joining Starbucks as a Shift Supervisor means becoming part of a global community committed to excellence in the art and craft of coffee, to enriching the lives of customers and partners, and to fostering a culture where everyone has the opportunity to grow and succeed. Your leadership at Starbucks will help create moments of connection and joy with every cup served, making a tangible difference in your local community and beyond.
