Job Description

PM Gorge is an independent franchisee of Papa Murphy's, one of the leading take-and-bake pizza brands in the United States. As a reputable food service establishment located at 11635 NE Halsey Street in Portland, OR, PM Gorge operates with a strong commitment to quality, customer service, integrity, and teamwork, which are the core values upheld by the Papa Murphy's brand. Though Papa Murphy's International, Inc. is well known, PM Gorge functions independently as a franchise owner, managing its own wage and benefit programs which may vary from other franchisees.

The role available is for a Shift Supervisor, a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing all operations during their assigned shift at the Papa Murphy's store. This role demands a highly motivated individual who can proficiently manage store activities while supporting a positive work environment and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Shift Supervisor leads by example, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of a Crew Member's duties along with additional responsibilities tied to store management. This position involves supervising team members, maintaining product and service quality, managing cash handling procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and upholding the cleanliness and readiness of the store.

The Shift Supervisor acts as the face of the store during their shift, ensuring that all team members are prepared and punctual, the store is fully stocked and sanitized, and that guests receive outstanding service that aligns with company standards. They are also pivotal in handling any emergencies, inventory challenges, equipment issues, or customer complaints as they arise. The role often requires the Shift Supervisor to independently operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager, further emphasizing the importance of leadership, decision-making skills, and operational knowledge.

Furthermore, this position requires the ability to communicate effectively with both team members and supervisors, manage difficult situations diplomatically, and contribute to a collaborative team atmosphere. Experience in quick-service restaurant environments is valued, along with skills in basic computer applications, point-of-sale systems, and store financials such as profit and loss analysis and cost management. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  • at least six months experience in QSR environment
  • previous experience at the crew member position
  • food handlers card and/or serve safe certified preferred but not required
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • ability to read and apply fundamental math skills
  • build and maintain positive relationships with supervisors, co-workers and guests
  • demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
  • demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • ability to manage various difficult or emotional customer situations
  • basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and POS
  • knowledge of store financials, P & L's, break-even analysis, food cost analysis, labor cost analysis and other financial information relative to store operations

Job Duties

  • Exhibit readiness to take responsibility of a shift by wearing a clean and wrinkle-free uniform and showing up at the assigned time
  • ensure all team members are in uniform, clocked in, and at assigned work stations at assigned time
  • perform a walk-through of the store to ensure that the store is clean, ready, stocked, etc. for business using the "Pre-Rush" Checklist
  • supervise and work with team members to ensure that the store operates with proper guest service, product quality, food handling, sanitation, safety, and security guidelines
  • accountable for all cash handling and ensure funds are properly secured
  • ensure proper labor laws are adhered to including schedules and breaks
  • complete all opening and closing duties and all appropriate checklists
  • complete accurate shift and daily paperwork using the POS system
  • maintain adequate prepped product for the shift and if product is not available, make sure product is available including but not limited to proofed crusts
  • handle emergencies, guest complaints, equipment problems, product shortage, and team member problems as per the company standards and procedures
  • communicate any shift problems to immediate supervisor
  • train and develop team members on assigned shift as directed by immediate supervisor
  • travel to the bank to make deposits, pick up change, and deposit slips
  • supervise and operate the store independently if needed in the absence of the Store Manager for prolonged periods of time (e.g. vacations)
