Job Description

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is a prominent Fortune 500 company specializing in providing innovative packaging solutions. With approximately 15,000 employees across more than 100 locations throughout the United States, PCA is committed to meeting the diverse needs of its customers ranging from large multinational corporations to small local businesses. The company operates in two main sectors: the corrugated packaging business aimed at assisting customers with packaging, transporting, and displaying products efficiently, and the white paper business which emphasizes operational excellence and providing high-quality service that aligns with environmental responsibility. PCA’s mission is deeply centered on customer satisfaction, environmental stewardship, and maintaining performance standards that exceed expectations today and into the future.

The Shift Supervisor role at PCA is a critical leadership position responsible for managing a production team to ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing of corrugated products. This role involves coordinating with the production manager to plan daily and weekly schedules that meet production goals, managing workflow to minimize downtime, prioritizing work orders, and maintaining quality standards. The Shift Supervisor oversees the work schedule, coordinates production activities, directly supervises employees, approves time records, and enforces company policies. Employee development plays a significant part of this role, as it requires engaging in training, coaching, team building, performance development, and addressing disciplinary actions.

Additionally, the Shift Supervisor fosters a safe and clean work environment by enforcing health and safety procedures. They lead employee training on equipment operation, protocols, production standards, safety regulations, and waste control. The position also demands analyzing production performance to identify improvement opportunities, recommending process enhancements, and setting achievable goals for the team. Supervising equipment operation, inspecting materials and products, participating in meetings, providing progress updates, and managing requests for materials and repair services are essential facets of this role.

This position offers a starting annual salary range of $65,000 to $80,000, inclusive of bonuses based on individual and company performance. PCA provides a comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation, holidays, medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, disability insurances, and 401k plan participation with employer matching contributions. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, PCA values diversity and inclusion, encouraging qualified applicants to apply. The Shift Supervisor role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with supervisory experience in manufacturing, particularly those interested in working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment where leadership and operational excellence drive company success.
