Job Description
HMSHost is a global hospitality company dedicated to delivering exceptional service to travelers and guests. With a strong presence worldwide, HMSHost operates in a variety of venues including airports, highway stops, and other travel locations, providing food and beverage services that cater to the fast-paced needs of its customers. The company's commitment to service excellence is supported by its extensive resources, comprehensive training programs, and abundant career advancement opportunities. HMSHost fosters a culture of engagement, appreciation, and inclusion, encouraging employees to be their best selves while recognizing their achievements with competitive wages and robust benefits. This creates a vibrant and supportive work environment where employees are motivated to perform at their highest level and grow their careers.
The Manager I (MGRI) position at HMSHost plays a crucial role in assisting branch management with the tactical execution of Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or similar restaurant operations. This role is instrumental in ensuring that the restaurant is clean, properly staffed, and runs smoothly according to high operational standards. The MGRI is responsible for following company policies and procedures to make informed management decisions, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for both employees and customers. The position involves a range of essential functions, such as completing opening, daily, and closing checklists; supervising the day-to-day activities of associates; participating in hiring and other staffing decisions; assigning work tasks; preparing schedules; and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and wellness standards.
This role requires a hands-on leader who actively monitors operational activities, manages cash transactions securely, ensures the proper stocking and cleanliness of display areas, and maintains equipment. The MGRI also places orders, processes invoices, and keeps up-to-date contact information for staff members. The position reports typically to a General Manager, Director of Operations, or a Food & Beverage Multi Unit Manager II, and requires flexibility with work shifts including openings, busy dayparts, and closings to ensure full coverage and management presence at all times. It is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act, reflecting the operational and supervisory nature of the role.
Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience in food and beverage service, cash handling, and customer service, combined with six months of supervisory or leadership experience in a restaurant or production kitchen setting. Effective communication skills are essential, as managers must read, comprehend, and convey instructions and policies while interacting comfortably with customers and staff. Knowledge of federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, including HACCP compliance, is required. HMSHost values reliability, ethical conduct, and a passion for delivering excellent customer experiences. The company offers a dynamic and fun workplace where managers serve as coaches and mentors to their teams, promoting a mission to create a positive atmosphere for employees and travelers alike. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy learning, growing, and making a difference through exceptional team leadership, the Manager I position at HMSHost provides an excellent opportunity to advance your hospitality career while being part of a globally recognized service leader.
