The role of Manager I (MGRI) at HMSHost is a pivotal position within the fast-paced quick-service restaurant (QSR) management operations. This role entails assisting branch management in the tactical execution of daily restaurant operations, ensuring the establishment is clean, well-stocked, staffed, and operating at the highest standards. As a Manager I, you will work closely with the Assistant General Manager (AGM) and General Manager (GM) to oversee the day-to-day activities of associates, manage shift schedules, and maintain smooth operational flow. Your responsibilities will include completing opening, daily, and closing procedures according to company policies, supervising associates, participating in hiring decisions, and addressing associate performance and advancement in collaboration with the GM. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure all food safety, health standards, and wellness protocols are strictly enforced in line with HACCP standards and company policies. Additionally, the Manager I handles cash registers, monitors security of cash handling operations, oversees inventory and order processing, and ensures that the restaurant environment meets the visual and cleanliness standards that HMSHost is known for.

The Manager I position operates as a non-exempt role under the Fair Labor Standards Act and demands flexibility in working varied and rotating shifts, including opening, busy periods, and closing times. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience
  • At least 6 months supervisory or lead experience in a restaurant or production kitchen
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions and policy documents
  • Comfortable conversing with customers
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local sanitary, safety and health standards
  • Familiarity with HACCP standards

Job Duties

  • Complete opening, daily and closing checklists in accordance with company policies
  • Assist AGM/GM in managing day-to-day activities of associates within assigned restaurants
  • Participate in the interview process and provide input in hiring
  • Recommend termination, promotion, or status changes to the GM
  • Assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure shift coverage
  • Ensure all associates take mandated rest breaks and meal periods
  • Maintain cleanliness and visual appeal of display areas
  • Ensure all equipment is operational
  • Operate cash register and follow cash handling policies
  • Monitor compliance with wellness and safety procedures
  • Report any safety concerns to GM
  • Perform all health and safety activities as specified
  • Place orders, receive goods and process invoices
  • Maintain updated contact information of associates
