The Manager position at Steak 'n Shake plays an essential role in overseeing daily restaurant operations during designated shifts. This managerial role offers either an hourly wage or a salary depending on the candidate’s qualifications, with salaried managers eligible for vacation and paid time off. The role generally involves working 40-50 hours per week and includes a comprehensive training period lasting between 3 to 6 weeks to thoroughly prepare new managers for success. Job Duties
- Supervise and coordinate staff activities to ensure smooth operations while maintaining operational goals and KPI targets in areas such as year-over-year sales growth, cost of goods sold and labor management, guest satisfaction, drive-thru times, GOLD Standard audits, operational processes, and regular maintenance
- Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching to the team
- Monitor employee performance and enforce company policies
- Ensure high-quality customer service and guest satisfaction
- Address and resolve customer complaints and conflicts effectively
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure stock availability
- Manage stock discrepancies, food waste, and product rotation
- Oversee receiving of products and supplies
- Manage cash handling, reconcile the cash register, and process transactions
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Communicate with upper management about shift performance and issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with point-of-sale (POS) systems or other technology
